What we collect
If you use the contact form, we collect the details you enter: your reason for contact, name, email address, an optional page URL and your message. When you search, we use only your selected need and a postcode or place. Like most sites hosted on Cloudflare, our infrastructure keeps standard technical logs such as IP address, request time and security signals to keep the service available and to prevent abuse.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your exact address, and search only needs a place or outward postcode. We take no payment, so we hold no card or bank details, and there are no user accounts or profiles to sign into. Any booking, quote or payment happens directly between you and the provider you choose to contact.
Lawful basis
We rely on our legitimate interest in running a useful, secure directory and in responding to the messages you send us. Where the law treats a message you send as consent to reply, we act on that basis and no further.
How long we keep information
Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your query and any follow-up, then deleted. Cloudflare's standard server and security logs are short-lived and managed by Cloudflare's own retention.
Infrastructure and processors
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, and the contact form is protected against automated abuse by Cloudflare Turnstile. Cloudflare processes requests and security data on our behalf to deliver and protect the site. The coverage map on provider pages loads its background tiles from OpenStreetMap and CARTO, so your browser's IP address is visible to them when a map loads; the map sets no cookies and is not used to track you. We do not sell your information or share it with providers unless your message is clearly meant for one.
Cookies
LockLocal sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies for security and to run the Turnstile check on the contact form. If that changes before launch, this notice will be updated to describe it.
When you contact a provider
Providers listed on LockLocal are independent businesses. When you call one, message one or visit its website, that provider is responsible for its own handling of your information under its own privacy notice.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Because we hold very little and set up no accounts, most requests are quick to resolve.
Contact us and complaints
To exercise a right or ask a privacy question, use the contact form and choose “Privacy or data request”. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
